In 2014-2015, Local Democracy Agency Georgia implemented the project “Protected Choice - Guarantee of Effective Self-Government”. The project partner was Georgian Young Lawyers' Association, the project was funded by ‘’Open Society -Georgia’’.

The aim of the project was to promote high quality independence and effective guarantees of local self-government bodies elected through universal, direct and equal elections to improve the quality of local government. In this way, the project implementing organizations have contributed to the strengthening of local self-government and people's protection mechanisms in Georgia. As a result of the project, all local stakeholders as well as citizens were involved in the dialogue format. Accordingly, a research and legislative package were prepared to reflect the will of the public and to improve local democracy.
