Local Democracy Agency Georgia, in partnership with Tkibuli District Development Fund, has started the implementation of the project "More Transparency and Accountability for Effective Self-Government".

The purpose of which is to ensure the implementation of effective self-government in the municipalities of Terjola, Tkibuli and Baghdati and to promote involvement of civil society in the decision-making process.

The tasks of the project are:

- To improve the quality of accountability and transparency of the local self-government, through the implementation of the methodology of the local self-government index;

- To develop and implement, as necessary, the best practices of the Eastern Partnership countries on instruments of citizens' involvement mechanisms;

- To improve the communication of local government representatives with the population and establish an innovative form of proactive information delivery;

- To ensure the involvement of young people in the decision-making process at the local self-government level through the formation of youth councils;

- To strengthen and raise the level of legal awareness of representatives of the civil sector in order to better express the interests of the target groups.

Activities planned within the project are presented in two directions:

Increasing transparency and accountability in the local self-government bodies of the target municipalities - implementation of the information system; introducing the Local Government Index (LSG)  methodology to municipal representatives in the target municipalities; formation of civil initiative groups; training of members of the initiative group.

Good governance and involvement of civil society in the decision-making process - analysis of international practice on forms of citizen participation; informational meetings with public officials of local self-government; work with civil advisors and gender equality councils; work with members of youth councils; training of youth council members and development of municipal youth pilot programs; preparation of podcasts; organization of regional conference.

The project is implemented by Tkibuli District Development Fund in partnership with Local Democracy Agency Georgia, with the support of the ''Strengthening Civil Society in the Eastern Partnership’’ programme , co-funded by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union.
