The Local Self-Governance Index was elaborated within the framework of the project "Open and Accountable Self-Governments - Transparency in Municipality and National Assessment of Citizens Involvement".

The project was implemented by the Consultation and Training Center (CTC), Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) and the Management Systems Development Center (MSDC) with the financial support of Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF).

The purpose of the project was to promote the implementation of the National Assessment Mechanism and to improve the transparency and accountability practices of the self-governing bodies.

The project was completed in July 2017.
