Regional Tourism Forum

On 21st August, 2020, Local Democracy Agency Georgia hold Regional Tourism Forum of Racha-Lechkhumi Lower Svaneti in Ambrolauri. The aim of the forum was to promote the tourism and agro-tourism opportunities of the region.

Invited guests presented a speech at the forum Danielle Meuwly Regional Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in the South Caucasus, Anna Chernyshova, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Georgia; Mzia Giorgobia, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia;Giorgi Gonadze, Deputy of Acting state representative of Racha-Lechkhumi Lower Svaneti region; Dimitri Khorava, Head of Investment Department at partnership fund; Medea Janiashvili, Deputy head of the National Tourism Administration of Georgia; David Melua, Executive Director of the National Association of Local Governments;

The first part of the forum dedicated to panel speeches, which concerned the perspectives of tourism development in Georgia, the main challenges after COVID 19 and the tourism potential of Racha-Lechkhumi Lower Svaneti region.

The promotional video of Racha-Lechkhumi Lower Svaneti was shown at the regional tourism forum which surprised the audience.

The second part of the Forum dedicated to the exhibition-sale of products of local entrepreneurs / farmers. There were represented local products that caused a great interest among the visitors. The forum was musically organized by local folk groups and bands.

In addition, an ART space arranged, where the works of local artists and various types of handicrafts was presented.

Regional Tourism Forum of Racha-Lechkhumi Lower Svaneti was organized by Local Democracy Agency Georgia (LDA Georgia) within the framework of the project “„Racha-Lechkhumi and lower Svaneti Regional Development Initiative”, which is undertaken within the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) “Fostering Regional and Local Development-Phase 2” project, with financial support from the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC), Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and the Government of Georgia.
