Meeting with the Chairmen of Housing Condominiums and Civil Society Representatives

On July 11, 2017, Local Democracy Agency Georgia convened a round table meeting with heads of homeowners associations and civil society representatives. This meeting was held as part of the project "On Housing Reforms in the Housing Sector: Increasing Capacity of Start-up Residential Condominiums in Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine," which is implemented with financial support from the European Union. The project runs from 2015 to 2018 and its objective is to promote topics like housing management and energy efficiency, as well as adapted housing in multi-dwelling buildings.


During the meeting, partner organizations (LDA Georgia, CHCA, CSI) presented updates on their project activities. Project partners KEDEC, LAG, and Progress shared information and best practices from the new resource centers for homeowners, and their work with homeowners associations in Kutaisi, Tbilisi and Batumi.The head of the Housing Infrastructure Management and Development Department of Kutaisi Municipality, Vladimer Nakashidze, also presented on current city-run programs for the development of Kutaisi apartment owners. Lado Vardosanidze, an expert, also talked about the development of municipal programs for Kutaisi homeowners associations and development of housing policies in Georgia.
The new resource centers were created to inform citizens and raise awareness on property owners’ rights. Consultations are available for interested citizens in the new resource centers.
